DLR Sponsored Taz Taylor from Mansfield riding for the RS Racing KTM team had a mixed weekend at round seven of the HEL Performance Motostar British Championship at Thruxton Circuit. He took a fantastic win in race one and had to settled for fourth in race two, he is still leading the Championship by six points.Taz was eager to continue his form from the recent rounds and once again put his KTM on pole position for the opening 10-lap race. He managed to get the hole-shot and led after the first lap by 0.08. With the incredible slip streaming that takes place at Thruxton, Taz dropped to fourth on lap two. For the entire race every rider swapped position on several occasion. On the penultimate lap Taz dropped to fifth place as they crossed the line and he dug really deep on the final lap making some incredible passes and taking his best win of the season so far. Only 0.5 separated the top four as they crossed the finish line. For race two Taz started from second place on the grid, he held his place at the end of the first lap and was soon involved in another four bike scrap for the lead. On lap three Taz was leading but in the main race the tables were turned for race two and despite hitting the lead for several laps of the race. He was looking strong and set for another podium place but he made a small mistake into the last chicane on the last lap and finished in fourth place, his first time off the podium this year in the races he has finished.Taz Taylor – “The first race was unreal and it was really exciting to be involved in, I wasn’t sure what was going to happen when I was fifth going into the final lap. I had to plan my time well and got great drive down the fast back straight and was able to make my move to the front. I really enjoyed the race it was a bit crazy but great fun.
I knew the second race would be tough and once again a dog fight until the flag. I got a good start and four of us managed to break away, once again we kept swapping positions and I really wanted to try and push again for a podium place. I made a small mistake on the final lap and had to take fourth, I’m disappointed but these things happen and it is more solid points in the bag. I’d like to thank the team again for all their hard work and also all my sponsors for helping me this year.”
