DLR are pleased to announce a new exciting opportunity for an individual who looking for an introduction into the commercial maintenance sector. We are looking for an individual who is eager to learn, able to show initiative and attention to detail with a view to progress into a full time position as a Level 3 technician.
Here at DLR Transport we operate a professional, well equipped modern commercial workshop which is dedicated to the service, maintenance and repair of the DLR Transport fleet. By joining the DLR team, you will receive training in all areas of our fleet maintenance. This will include tasks such as MOT test preparation of HGV trucks and trailers, the inspection, service and repair of vehicles and commercial equipment along with fault diagnosis and rectification. As an apprentice you will be working under the guidance and supervision of experienced and trained HGV technicians based at Tuxford, Newark, Notts, NG22 0NH.

Apprenticeship Position
Training Provider: GTA, Group Training Association, www.doncastergta.co.uk

Working week –Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 16:30, with a 30 min lunch and one day release day at Doncaster college 09:00 – 16:00. (Total hours per week: 37 hours a week)
Expected duration – 36 Months
Positions –1 position available
Annual wage – £10,158.72
What will the apprentice be doing:
Working alongside experienced technicians in a dedicated commercial workshop to carry out tasks on HGV vehicles, trailers, light commercial vehicles and forklift trucks. Duties to include but not limited to:
- MOT Test preparations
- Safety Inspections
- Servicing and repair
- Fault finding and rectification
- Brake roller testing
- Maintaining a safe and clean workshop environment
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end:
- Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician apprenticeship standard
- Level 2 Functional Skills in English and maths (if required)
- Employee Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
- Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship:
- Progression to higher responsibility and full-time employment.
- Opportunity for further career development at DLR Transport: Dedicated diagnostic software training, Tachograph technician course, LGV Class 1 driver’s license ect.
