DLR Transport were approached by the Nottinghamshire Scouts Adventure group to aid in the movement of floating pontoons to a new home at the Scouts Adventure centre in the village of Hoveringham, located near to DLR Transport’s main customer, Bison Forterra.
Having previously assisted the Scout group with the transportation of concrete culverts and slab to their local centre, we were more than happy to provide our services again. Assigned to this challenge was DLR’s own Jonjo Allsop in his Renault T – high tractor unit. Owing to the access and ground conditions, along with the general make up of such a load the job was not a strait forward one, that said a safe approach, the right equipment and years of experience ensured that both the Scouts and Jonjo had the pontoons sited at their new location by night fall.
Customer service is one of the main driving factors behind DLR Transport, we feel privileged in having had the opportunity to utilise the DLR fleet and our experience to support the local community and its young people.
“A huge thank you for your help today, Jonjo was a real star; very patient, as it was quite tricky getting everything loaded/unloaded, but he wasn’t fazed.”

This donation is set to significantly enhance the water sports provisions at the centre. Once renovated the new pontoons will provide safe access and egress to the lake for sailing dinghies and safety boats, along with Dragon boating, which is a new activity, that can only be catered for once the pontoons are in place. Plans are in place for the pontoons to be on the water in spring ready for the Adventure Scouts ‘Big Weekend’ a mass camp organised over the bank holiday weekend bringing together 3000 scouts from across the country.
” A big thank you from the Nottinghamshire Scout Association for the support provided by DLR Transport with the transportation of a number of floating pontoons from Colwick Marina on the River Trent to their new home at the Notts Scouts Adventure Centre in Hoveringham. https://adventure.notts-scouts.org.uk/ . Your assistance is going to be appreciated over the years to come by thousands of young children who come to the centre to experience (many for the first time) the delights and challenges of taking on our water based activities, so once again, thank you.
